How long does it take to implement AI lead scoring?
Where the time goes
Roughly the first two weeks are an audit: what history exists, which fields are reliable, and what outcome the score should predict. The next three are the build, inside your CRM, tested against past deals. Then two weeks live with the team, tuning thresholds on real leads. The last week is handover: documentation and a tuning guide for whoever owns it.
What slows it down
Thin data is the usual cause. If key fields are empty for half the records, enrichment has to come first. The second cause is disagreement about the goal, since marketing and sales often mean different things by a good lead. The third is adoption: a score nobody trusts changes nothing, however accurate it is.
What speeds it up
A CRM with a few hundred closed deals marked won or lost. One owner on your side who can make decisions. And a willingness to launch a simple model early and improve it, rather than waiting for a perfect one. A modest model in use beats an excellent one in testing.
When you will see a difference
Reps notice the queue makes more sense in the first week it is live. Conversion differences between high and low scores show up within a month. The effect on pipeline velocity takes a sales cycle to read properly, which is why results start inside 30 days and mature by 60.
