How do you measure lead response time in HubSpot?

Short answer. Measure lead response time in HubSpot from the moment a lead converts to the first real touch by its owner, using the conversion date, the owner assigned date and the first engagement date on the contact. Report the slowest leads and the leads never touched, not only the average.

The timestamps you need

When the lead converted, from the first conversion date. When an owner was assigned, from the owner assigned date. When the owner first engaged, from the first engagement or last contacted dates. Each gap between them is a different problem with a different fix.

Count only real touches

An automatic confirmation email can make response look instant while the buyer still waits for a person. Measure to the first human call, email or meeting, and track automated acknowledgements separately.

Look at the tail

The average hides the problem. Report the slowest tenth of leads, the leads with no owner, and the leads that were never touched. Split by source and by hour of arrival: leads that arrive outside working hours often explain most of the delay.

Act on it

Fix the largest gap first. If leads wait for an owner, the routing needs work. If owners are slow, look at alerts and workload. Re-measure on the same sample of recent leads so the change is visible.
