What tech stack does a B2B sales team need at each stage?
The first stage
A CRM with stages written down, email that logs to the CRM, a scheduling link and a simple dashboard. The most valuable work at this stage is not tooling. It is agreeing what a stage means and making sure every deal and contact is recorded the same way, so that later tools have something reliable to read.
As the team grows
Repeated pain points justify new tools. Missing company and contact details call for enrichment. Leads waiting for an owner call for routing. Reps writing the same emails call for sequences. Calls nobody can review call for recording. Each tool should solve a problem the team can name, not one a vendor described.
When it gets complex
Several teams, several products, several regions. Now forecasting, territory management and a proper data model matter, along with someone who owns the system as a whole. This is also where unused tools accumulate, and where an audit of what is actually used usually pays for itself.
Rules at every stage
One system of record, which is the CRM. Every tool writes back to it. Every field has an owner and a definition. Remove a tool before adding one that overlaps it. And before buying anything, check whether the CRM you already pay for can do the job.
